About Alison

Alison has extensive derivatives experience as well as a wealth of experience of a more general nature gained over many years in the investment banking industry. She has worked as derivatives counsel both in the UK and Asia for a number of leading global Investment banks and groups, advising on a wide range of derivative and equity derivative products and transactions and supporting the futures business in the Asia Pacific Region during her career. She is admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in England and Wales, the Roll of Solicitors in Ireland and as a solicitor in Hong Kong. She was appointed Director and Head of Legal for South East Asia for Merrill Lynch, again gaining important insight into the Asian financial markets. She has also gained significant experience of fund management, having worked as General Counsel to a fund manager on her return to the UK from Asia.

Alison set up Donaldson Legal Consulting in 2005 and merged with Fieldfisher in 2017 in order to further develop the delivery of outsourced legal managed services.

Experience

Credit Suisse Financial Products
Working in the Legal Department as derivatives counsel, advising on a wide range of derivative products and transactions throughout Europe.
Warburg Dillon Read (later UBS Warburg), Hong Kong,
working as derivatives counsel located on the equity derivatives desk and advising on a wide range of equity derivatives products.
Merrill Lynch, Hong Kong,
working as derivatives counsel and advising on derivatives products and structured transactions throughout Asia.
Merrill Lynch, Singapore,
working as derivatives counsel and Head of Legal for Singapore, subsequently becoming Director and Head of Legal for South East Asia and managing a team of lawyers/compliance personnel based in Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. Alison was also regional futures counsel, supporting the futures business in the Asia Pacific Region and assisting with the set-up of new futures business in Korea.
